Doedre's Undoing Lich Endgame Build Guide has Skills, Ascendancy, Passive, and Gear progression for Path of Exile 2 The Last of the Druids 0.4

Skills

  • Despair triggers Doedre's Undoing, which hits the enemies 3 times when linked with Spell Cascade and a Curse Radius of 5.0m or higher.
  • During maps, you only need to cast Despair. On Bosses, cast Sigil of Power for more damage and Ball Lightning to proc Mana Remnants if necessary.
  • Despair Links: Doedre's Undoing - Spell Cascade - Execute III - Controlled Destruction - Zenith II
  • Your sceptre provides a Purity, a passive aura which helps cap resistance. You also socket as many Persistent Buff Supports as possible, as they reserve no Spirit when linked with a Purity.
  • Archmage provides a large source of %Damage as Extra Lightning Damage based on your maximum mana.
  • Withering Presence is a passive aura that periodically Withers nearby enemies, increasing the chaos damage they take.
  • Tame Beast is used to capture a beast with Haste for increased movement speed and cast speed.
  • Convalescence is used to instantly start your energy shield recharge and to prevent your recharge from being interrupted.
  • Mana Remnants helps sustain mana while mapping and can be procced on bosses with Ball Lightning.
  • 10 or more Green Support Gems are equipped to gain 5% Increased Movement Speed from Gem Enthusiast.
  • Ensure that the majority of your support gems are Blue to become Chill Immune via Crystallised Immunities.

Skill Rotation

  1. Spam Despair. Simple.
  1. Cast Sigil of Power before the boss spawns.
  2. Spam Despair. Aim for the monster's centre.
  3. Cast Ball Lightning to proc Mana Remnants, but only if necessary. With enough Mana Regen on gear, your base sustain with a Mana Flask may be sufficient.

Skill Leveling Priority

It's important to constantly upgrade and quality all of your gem's; to increase your damage, reach certain breakpoints, or to reduce spirit reservation. The only exceptions to this rule are Tame Beast because of dexterity requirements, Ball Lightning, and any filler skills used to host Green Support Gems to meet the requirements for Gem Enthusiast.

Key Mechanics

Curse Radius

Spell Cascade is used for increased clear speed and single target damage, provided all 3 areas overlap around a single point. The distance between areas decreases as your Curse Radius increases. A Curse Radius of 5.0m or higher causes all 3 areas to overlap around a single point. Curse Radius is primarily scaled via Despair Gem Levels and increased Area of Effect of Curses, found on passive tree nodes such as Zone of Control or jewels.

Important: At 4.9m Curse Radius, when targeting enemies with a Controller, you hit all 3 Spell Cascade overlaps. However, if you're using a Mouse, you need to precisely aim at the monster's centre or achieve a Curse Radius of 5.0m or higher.

Faster Curse Activation

In Path of Exile 2, curses have an activation delay before casting. Faster Curse Activation reduces this delay, greatly increasing clear speed and damage output. However, at 100% Faster Curse Activation or higher, the Curse fails to cast and bugs out. Thus, the goal is to get as close to 100% as possible. The standard way to achieve this is to gain 70% Faster Curse Activation from Impending Doom and the minor nodes before it and 28% Faster Curse Activation via Crystalline Phylactery and a jewel rolled with exactly 14% Faster Curse Activation for a total of 98% Faster Curse Activation.

Spirit

This build requires Threaded Light which, in combination with Spirit, provides a very large amount of Increased Spell Damage. Spirit is primarily acquired from your Sceptre, secondarily from your Amulet, and optionally from your body armour or corruptions on gear.

Furthermore, you need approximately 300 to 350 Spirit or more to equip all your persistent buffs before respeccing to this build.

Low Life

This build uses Low Life Mechanics for:

  • Damage Reduction via % of Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield
  • Damage via Execute III
  • Movement Speed via Tecrod's Gaze

To enable Low Life, temporarily equip a Visage of Ayah for Eldritch Battery and cast any skill linked to Lifetap until your Life is at 35% of your Maximum Life or Lower. To verify your Low Life status, you can check your movement speed in the character panel to verify your gaining the movement speed from Tecrod's Gaze.

Ascendancy

Learn how to Ascend with our guides:

  • Soulless Form significantly increases your mana regeneration rate and provides a source of % of Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield.
  • Eternal Life turns any source of % of Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield into damage reduction, as long as you have energy shield. It also enables low life mechanics, such as Execute III or Tecrod's Gaze.
  • Crystalline Phylactery doubles the effect of a socketed jewel. A jewel with 14% Faster Curse Activation is required for the build to function smoothly. It is recommended to have at least 3 Ascendancy points before beginning this build.
  • Rupture the Soul provides a 33% chance for cursed enemies in your presence to explode for 25% of their maximum life as chaos damage, meaningfully improving clear speed. However, the 25% Curse Area from the minor node before it is particularly noteworthy, as it helps reach the 5.0m Curse Radius breakpoint.

Passives

Doedre's Undoing Lich Endgame Build Passive Skill Tree
Click the arrows to open the full tree in a new tab.
  • All attribute nodes should be Intelligence a to maximise the damage from Doedre's Undoing.
  • If you're lacking All Attributes from gear, consider allocating Dexterity so you can equip enough Green Support Gems for Gem Enthusiast; similarly, allocate enough Strength to equip all the support gems listed in the planner. That said, 1 to 2 All Attribute stat modifiers on gear covers both Dexterity and Strength requirements, allowing you to allocate every attribute node into Intelligence.
    • You can use your Gold at the Hooded one or Doryani to respec and change your Attributes if a new skill or gear upgrade changes your requirements.
  • Post-Campaign Tree: You start by transitioning from Essence Drain to Despair & Doedre's Undoing. Your main priorities are:
    • Allocating enough increased Area of Effect of Curses to achieve a 5.0m Curse Radius or higher
    • Allocating enough Faster Curse Activation, which in combination with a 14% Faster Curse Activation jewel socketed into Crystalline Phylactery, reaches 98% Faster Curse Activation.
    • Allocating enough Mana Regeneration to comfortable clear maps
    • Allocating enough Energy Shield to comfortably survive.
  • Important: Against the Darkness is socketed into the upper right jewel socket, left of Chaos Inoculation. This is important to initially maximize your % Intelligence, and eventually the % of Damage Gained as Extra Chaos Damage stat, once you've purchased an Against the Darkness with both modifiers. Furthermore, a Chaos Innoculation From Nothing allows you to allocate Controlled Chaos, Tempered Mind, and Invocated Efficiency for even more Against the Darkness scaling. This also allows you to allocate Wither Away & Pure Chaos for even more damage.
  • Medium Investment Tree: With additional levels, you want to allocate additional jewel sockets. Jewels are a very efficient source of increased Area of Effect of Curses, allowing you to unallocate Zone of Control.
  • Note: this passive tree assumes you've invested into a Megalomaniac with Arcane Intensity, allowing you to save 5 Passive Points. If you haven't made this upgrade, drop Movement Speed nodes, Attribute nodes or a Jewel Socket until you do.
  • High Investment Tree: The High Investment Tree continues from the Medium Investment Tree, allocating Acceleration with additional character levels for more damage. That said, the only optional consideration is to forgo Jack of All Trades and path towards Light on your Feet & Momentum for additional movement speed.

Stat Priorities

Offensive Scaling

  • Intelligence is your number one stat, you want it on as many gear pieces as possible to scale the flat damage from Doedre's Undoing. All Attributes is equally as valuable.
  • Mana to scale extra damage from Archmage
  • Spirit to synergise with Threaded Light.
  • % Increased Spell Damage
  • % Increased Chaos Damage
  • % Increased Cast speed
  • Gain % Damage as extra Fire, Cold, Lightning or Chaos Damage
  • Mana Regeneration to sustain ability costs
  • Mana Cost Efficiency to sustain ability costs

Defensive Scaling

  • Sufficient +#% to Fire, Cold and Lightning Resistance to cap your Resistances
  • Maximum Energy Shield
  • Faster Start of Energy Shield Recharge to quickly recover your Energy Shield
  • % of Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield

If you're struggling to survive, or want to learn more about damage and defenses in Path of Exile 2 check out these additional resources:

Gearing

  • To begin, respec from Essence Drain to Despair & Doedre's Undoing at approximately Level 80
  • Equip adequate Energy Shield Gear and cap your resistances to 75%
  • Equip a Sceptre with approximately 180 Spirit or more and equip a Threaded Light for a large source of Increased Spell Damage
  • Equip Gear with Intelligence or All Attributes on as many gear pieces as possible. 600 Intelligence or more can comfortably begin basic juiced mapping strategies.
  • Consider equipping an Atziri's Disdain as your budget starter helm.
Doedre's Undoing Lich Endgame Gear
  • As you level up and purchase upgrades, aim to reach 800 Intelligence or higher; this allows you to comfortably clear delirium juiced maps.
  • During this stage, prioritise increasing your mobility:
    • Your first major purchase or craft should be 60% increased Movement Speed boots.
    • Your second major purchase should be a Headhunter, as stolen rare monster modifiers significantly improve damage, defense, mobility and quality of life.
  • Purchase a Megalomaniac with at least one of the following notables:
    • Arcane Intensity, Heavy Buffer, Momentum
    • Optionally, keep an eye out for these notables: Impending Doom, Spaghettification, Spiral into Depression, Shimmering, Acceleration, Light on your Feet, Escape Velocity, Conservative Casting, Mental Toughness
Doedre's Undoing Lich Endgame Gear
  • Acquiring High Investment gear is a long journey, requiring lots of juiced map farming, trading, and optionally crafting for profit.
  • Your upgrade priority is as follows:
    • 65% increased Movement Speed Boots
    • An Amulet with Flat Spirit, Flat Intelligence, Attributes, and % Intelligence
    • A Sceptre with as much Spirit as possible and Mana Regeneration
    • A corrupted Thread of Light with 14%+ increased Spell Damage per 10 Spirit
    • Jewellery with Flat Mana, Mana Regeneration and as much Intelligence & Attributes as possible
    • 100% increased Effect of Socketed Items Gloves, socketed with Fenumus' Rune of Spinning & 2 Greater Resolve Runes
    • Rite of Passage for even more Movement Speed.
  • Note: The build aims for 100%+ increased Rarity of Items found across multiple gear pieces to maximise currency found while mapping.

FAQ

  • Can I level with Doedre's Undoing?

It's recommended to level with Essence Drain before swapping to Doedre's Undoing at Level 80.

This is in part due to gear requirements, gem levels and specific curse breakpoints that need to be hit.

  • How much Spirit and Intelligence to start?

Aim for 350 Spirit and 600+ Intelligence to start.

As you invest more into the character, aim for as much Spirit and Intelligence as possible.

  • Which Campaign Buffs?

    • A2 Relic: 30% increased Charm Charges Gained
    • A3 Venom Drought: 25% increased Stun Threshold (Permanent)
    • A4 Chapel: 30% increased Mana Recovery from Flasks
    • A4 Tattoo's: 5% Attributes (Permanent)
    • Interlude 2: Orbala's Boon: 3% increased Movement Speed

Note: These bonuses are minor, if you picked a different permanent bonus, don't worry.

  • What are the important breakpoints for Doedre's Undoing?

There are two important breakpoints to achieve:

    • 98% Faster Curse Activation
    • and a Curse Radius of 5.0m or higher.

In Path of Exile 2, curses have an activation delay before casting. Faster Curse Activation reduces this delay, greatly increasing clear speed and damage output. However at 100% Faster Curse Activation or higher, the Curse fails to cast and bugs out. Thus, the goal is to get as close to 100% as possible. The standard way to achieve this is to gain 70% Faster Curse Activation from Impending Doom and the minor nodes before it and 28% Faster Curse Activation via Crystalline Phylactery and a jewel rolled with exactly 14% Faster Curse Activation.

Spell Cascade is used for increased clear speed and single target damage, provided all 3 areas overlap around a single point. The distance between areas decreases as your Curse Radius increases. A Curse Radius of 5.0m or higher causes all 3 areas to overlap around a single point. Curse Radius is primarily scaled via Despair Gem Levels, and increased Area of Effect of Curses, found on passive tree nodes such as Zone of Control or jewels.

  • Is this a Bossing Build or Mapping Build?

Currently, the build is optimised for fast map clears, and is passable at best for bosses.

This is largely because 100% Movement Speed or higher is required for fast map clears and most Movement Speed notables are found on the bottom to bottom right side of the passive tree. If you want to boss on this build, you need to achieve gear levels at the High Investment level, consider using Weapon Set passive points to exchange Movement Speed nodes for damage nodes, or consider respeccing your passive tree before extended boss farm sessions.

  • Alternatives to Headhunter?

Headhunter is one of the best, if not the best mapping belt. Rare monsters regularly provide Haste and Damage as Extra Buffs, which last for 60 seconds. This is important because the more juiced your maps are, the better it becomes.

That said, if you're not convinced or want to build in a different direction then consider wearing Ingenuity or a rare belt to start, if you are on a budget.

  • How do I die less?

    • This is a ranged build - aim to clear monsters from a distance. Do not walk into monsters as your overall mitigation and defensive layering is low.
    • Certain Map Modifiers may be troublesome:
      • Monsters have % increased Stun Buildup: Consider a Stone Charm for these maps
      • Area has Patches of Ignited Ground: Ignited Ground stops your Energy Shield Recharge from starting. Path carefully in these maps or avoid the mod altogether.
    • Consider using Convalescence pre-emptively before engaging difficult enemies.
    • Verify that you have 75% Elemental Resistance.
